Aaron has more than 10 years of teaching experience, ranging from coaching and mentoring students (IB to mainstream O-Levels) from the Singapore Sports School in Mathematics and the Sciences to tutoring students in JC Physics (H2) and has also coached H3 Physics in the past.
Aaron first developed a strong interest in Mathematics and the sciences in his secondary school days and he wanted to choose something that he could apply mathematics to, hence why he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has since completed his Doctor of Philosophy from NTU’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Aaron’s primary motivation is to get students to understand, appreciate and like the subjects taught. He believes that if the student does so and can apply the concepts learnt, the As & Bs should follow. He also believes learning is not just about practising drill questions, but also to understand as it helps one to develop an analytical mind.
When teaching students, he breaks down complex theories and formulae and rather than merely memorising them, students are instead shown how they are derived so that they can develop an appreciation.
Aaron always tries to guide his students to question the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ as he believes an inquisitive mindset can go a long way not just in a particular subject, but also in life.
